I had intended to hard wire my dashcam by piggy-backing onto an "acc" circuit in the fuse box. My favourite for this was the circuit for the auxiliary power sockets. However, on our RH drive cars, this fuse isn't easily accessible as the access hole for the fuses is smaller than the fuseboard. I don't really want to remove the glove box to reach it for fear of breaking something. What have other people done? I suppose one alternative would be to get a long USB cable and plug that under the dash assuming they aren't live all the time.

Try and check out some YouTube videos. The Renault Captur is very similar.

I know I'm a bit late getting back to this. But, in the end, I just tidied up my temporary set up. The cable from the dashcam drops down by the rear view mirror behind the infotainment screen and round to the old style fag lighter socket. The gap it crosses is only a matter of about 6 inches as I look at it and I'm surprised that it doesn't bother me at all. It would have been a difffferent matter in my old Ford which had a huge tall screen. I used a 1m cable I found in the house plus a right angle USB adapter to fit an in-car phone charger. It's all pretty tidy and doesn't stick way out from the socket and into the tray area. You never know, I might wire it all to the fusebox eventually but am probably too lazy.

I am considering one of these adapters:

Unfortunately no Renault-specific yet.
A way more elegant solution than routing several meters of wire to the fuse box or 12V socket.

Yes. These are neat. There are a couple of firms making them but, as you say, no Renault specific versions yet. If you can find the matching connectors it wouldn't be hard to fit the universal one you linked to.

Just a thought - take a look at your glovebox. The light there has a switch, but 12v is getting to the light box. If you find a way to get your wire behind the glovebox you should be able to power it from the glovebox light. Same thing with the overhead lights - the panel should pop out relatively easy.
There are lights also in the sun shades, should be easy to get a cable running inside and power them from there.

I wrote to FitDVR asking for Renault compatibility. Here's the answer:

Hi there,

For Renault models, please take a picture of your rain sensor plug for us to check, it might be the same as our BMW plug.

Since I am still waiting for my Techno, anyone can post a picture of the rear mirror connector, if visible?

Does anyone have any pictures to show where the dash cam is on their front window and view from it?

I'm a new proud owner, dealer fitted dash-cam and it's only showing half of the bonnet! - I'm taking it back for them to move it

Many Thanks

I don't think that you need to take your Symbioz back to the dealer to have the camera view adjusted. All dash-cams that I have personally fitted and the one fitted to my Symbioz by the dealer are adjustable by moving them with your hand whilst viewing the picture. I strongly suggest that you read the manual that came with your dash-cam (or available on-line) which should show how to make the adjustments. I apologise if I am telling you something that you already know, when you have a dash-cam fitted it is not just a matter of fitting and forgetting, you need to understand how to save and use the recordings if involved in an incident. These details will all be in the manual.

I've had my Symbioz since the 22nd April and am still loving it. Without tempting providence, I have had no problems and regard it as the best vehicle that I have owned in my 50 odd years of motoring. I am so glad that I read and viewed everything, including the Renault manual, before taking delivery. It is a completely different driving experience!
