It could well be the speed limiter coming into play. It appears that the speed limiter is automatically put into play when you start the car up. The buttons controlling what speed is set are very easily touched and I have accidentally engaged the speed limiter at around 20 mph when going through town. First time it happened, I thought "what the ......" then realised and turned it off. When I start the car, the first thing I do is to turn off the speed limiter before moving off......along with engaging eco mode and flicking the button on the right hand side to bring my personalised settings into play. Bit like a cockpit check in on an aircraft before taking off...... not that I have ever flown a plane!
The first time it happened to me was a scary experience. Going down a steep bank with lots of traffic getting very impatient with me. I put on the hazards and managed to park on a verge. Restarted the car. The second time it happened I was turning the wheel and realised I had pressed a button with the same result. I think the buttons are very sensitive so I'm now more careful.
I've accidentally activated the speed limiter too and it totally freaked me out. Thankfully I had been trying out the cruise control functions a few days before so knew how to quickly cancel it but I was ready to pull over as I thought I had a major problem at first. You could definitely describe it as similar to limp mode or the cars breaking system overriding the accelerator.
Whilst we're on about breaking, has anyone noticed that when in regeneration gear the auto hold does not kick in unless you press the break pedal really hard?
I’ve also done it! Thankfully only at low speed though I wasn’t sure what to press as haven’t read the manual still lol. I found that pressing everything fixed it
I also did it, limiting the speed to 30km/h. I was pushing hard the accelerator and nothing was happening. Car was only 2 days old:) glad that I've read the manual and disabled it almost right away, but it was scary, my first thought was "what broke down now!"

Thanks all
I will locate and test the speed limiter button tomorrow and see if same as I experienced
Update: Sacré bleu!
Yes this was exactly the experience, many thanks for identifying this. I must have pressed it by mistake when temporarily parked?!
Knowing now how invasive this is, it points to less severe but still annoying traits when driving along and the car is not as smooth as it should be (ie rather than gliding along when being driven along an A road it can sometimes meddle with the driving mechanics making it slightly jerky) - this is when the speed limiter is NOT activated; different driving modes either push the car along (sport) or slow it down.
Imo the main issue with the jerkiness you mention is the gearing. 1st generally continues until about 32mph, so you have to play with the throttle often to get ev mode to engage. Why oh why they didn’t fear it to change to 2nd at about 25 I’ll never know as in a 30 zone it’s a pita a lot if the time.
