*Braking!!
This is a new one for me and I believe its worth posting a new topic as it is potentially catastrophic
This morning I was making a 3 mile commute, first 2 miles were fine
Went through a drive through to get coffee, engine stayed on for about 5 mins.
Then drove off without incident. But 200 metres along the car suddenly developed a braking like sensation
I checked I was not in B mode (though behaviour was MUCH more severe) - I was not. I then checked what drive mode I was in, comfort. Changed modes and from D to B to D again.
No change in behaviour, it was like the breaks were being pressed and I really had to push the accelerator to move forward.
As I was on a B road, I was able to pull over thankfully. I turned the car off fully, opened the door to turn off most systems, then closed and started the car up again. Drove the remaining half mile without incident.
Next leg journey was about 6 miles, the braking issue did not occur but I had one instance of needing to really hit the break hard to stop.
I shudder to think if I was on the motorway with family.
Will see what happens on the return then report to Renault if it reoccurs.
Has anyone had similar?
Breaking system error !!
Were there any visual or audio warnings? Sounds like some emergency braking system got engaged. Had something similar happening to my previous Kadjar few years ago, but it was accompanied with warning - out of a sudden, with no cars or obstacles around me the car entered in emergency braking, I got a large red triangle on the dashboard with proximity alert and an audio warning - there was nothing in front of me but the car decided to do an emergency stop.
Second option is the parking brake or the slope assistant. Too many things are messing up with the brakes of a modern car, so without any audio or visual warning it'll be difficult to say what happened.

You should try and set up your phone in video mode to record what's happening. I did this some years ago with a steering rack issue. As usual it was an intermittent problem but the video convinced the dealer that a new steering rack was needed. Good luck, I hope you get it sorted soon. These issues can be very unnerving and you can loose confidence in the car.

Thank you. That’s a good idea.Rizmo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 5:54 pm You should try and set up your phone in video mode to record what's happening. It was OK on the journey home, but indeed you are correct - lost confidence certainly in taking it on the Mway any time soon

It's basically a good car spoilt by what is mostly software issues which can be complicated for the dealer to correct. It's frustrating but my car is bought and paid for so I will be sticking with it. I find a lovely car to drive.

Sort of like that
But no warnings or beeps that were noticable at all. I’ve seen those come on with a LR and they are very much in your face
Just felt like breaks were being depressed while I was on the accelerator (I wasn’t on both) and only cleared after the car was turned off/on

On the left side of the steering wheel are buttons for the cruise control. I've touched a button on there twice accidentally and caused the limp mode effect. It may be the speed limiter. Restarting the car resets and so would pressing the same button again. A quiet road is needed to try stuff out. I think there is a minimum speed before it will activate.
